DOORS & WINDOWS
The front door for our “Green Home” is flying from
Europe. It is manufactured out of solid iron,
hand-forged under the skillful hands of European
craftsman. It is aged through hand finishing
techniques to suggest authenticity and warmth to your
entry way. When you grab the custom pull to open the
door of your home the expression “… your home is your
castle” will come vivid to you.
We will preserve the authentic feel throughout the
home by installing oil rubbed handles and hinges on
all interior doors. The 8’ doors will be primed with
premium quality Safe Coat transitional primer free of
formaldehyde, ethylene glycol, ammonia, acetone, heavy
metals, crystalline silica or other carcinogenic or
hazardous materials and finished with Zero VOC paint.
We chose Low-E windows that reduce the U-factor by
suppressing radiative heat flow. This means that your
home is shielded from the UV rays that burn yours skin
and fade and degrade your furniture. Low-E window
abbreviates low skin cancer hazard, while indoor, and
low air-conditioning bill.
Our “Green Home” is equipped with operable windows.
The construction trend in the Valley of the Sun is to
build homes with few widows that open. I’ve seen
homes that have only 2-3 operable windows over 3000 sq
ft of indoor living area. This entraps the already
highly toxic air, due to the indoor finishing
materials used in modern construction, and creates
extremely big hazard. You are better off driving with
open windows behind 3 school buses than sleeping in
some of the homes, product of our industrial
revolution. We installed operable windows on all
appropriate places including the bathrooms and the
master closet.
